A kind patient has alerted us to a text message they received with a link to a 'Omicron PCR Test' webpage, which for the most part looks like an official government webpage. This, unfortunately, is a scam that is going around the country where the scammers request payment for the test to be sent out.
Please be vigilant when you receive any communications from people you don't know. Some indicators that it could be a scam include:
A web address which does not end in .nhs.uk, .gov.uk, etc.
Poor spelling and grammar, misused capital letters.
Requests for payment - the NHS nor the Government would request money in a text message.
Threats of consequences if you don't pay/comply with their instructions - always check gov.uk for the most up-to-date advice.
If you think you have a scam message, please email it to us and we can add your photo to this page to help other people. You can also report scams to the National Cyber Security Agency and Action Fraud.
Please forward this to your friends and family so that they too can be aware of the current healthcare scams circulating.
