Targeted Lung Health Checks in Worksop

Posted on:

We are pleased to announce that the Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) Programme is now available in Worksop, with invitations being sent out to eligible patients. This important lung cancer screening programme aims to detect lung cancer early, when treatment options are most effective, including curative care.

Patients aged 55 to 74 who are current or former smokers will receive an invitation for a free lung health check. The check involves a 30-minute telephone call with a respiratory nurse to assess lifestyle, medical, and family history. High-risk patients will be offered a low-dose CT scan at a mobile scanning unit conveniently located at Tesco in Worksop.

Since its launch in Bassetlaw in August 2022, the programme has diagnosed 54 lung cancers, with 77% at an early stage. Across the region, over 530 cancers have been detected. These checks are vital even if you feel fine.

If you receive an invitation, we encourage you to participate. For smokers, referrals to the ABL smoking cessation service will be provided. Together, we can continue achieving life-saving results.
