We are very pleased to announce that Dr Christopher Stanley has been awarded the prestigious title of MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to General Practice in the Queen’s Birthday Honours on 9th June 2018.
The award is well deserved and comes after 28 years of service as a GP Partner at the Practice. During that time Dr Stanley has been a leading force, driving forward improvements in healthcare for the population of the Practice. In addition, through his roles as Chair of Bassetlaw Primary Care Group from 1999-2001 and Chair of Bassetlaw Primary Care Trust Executive Committee from 2001 to 2010 he has also been influential in improvements for the health of the population of Bassetlaw as a whole.
Dr Stanley and Dr Collins (now retired), also pioneered the way drug services were delivered in Bassetlaw by ensuring these were delivered from general practice from 2003. They subsequently went on to manage the Bassetlaw Drug and Alcohol Service across the district from 2011-2014.
Reflecting on the MBE award Dr Stanley said, “This came as a great surprise to me but I’m delighted to receive the award. General Practice is very much a team effort and this award reflects the achievements of the Practice as a whole and not just my efforts”.
