Medical Exemption Certificates

A medical exemption certificate entitles individuals with specific medical conditions to free NHS prescriptions. It provides proof that you are legally exempt from paying for prescriptions, allowing you to get them at no cost.

The exemption forms are available from reception and once completed they will be given to a GP to sign and then sent off on the patient’s behalf.

The exemption certificate will be posted to the patient’s home address. It normally lasts for 5 years, after which it will need to be renewed.

Remember, NHS prescriptions are free if you’re aged 60 or over.
